Grand Slam: SUV Crashes Into Miami-Dade Denny's

Minor injuries after car careens into restaurant

A wrong turn ruined more than breakfast at a Southwest Miami-Dade Denny’s Friday morning, after a SUV went off the road and careened into the restaurant.

The incident happened around 12:35 a.m., when the SUV which was traveling eastbound in the 8000 block of Southwest 8th Street crashed into the eatery.

Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Joseph Mosca said no one was seriously hurt, and four people inside the SUV were treated for minor injuries.

The vehicle slammed into the restaurant’s back kitchen, damaging a cooler and the break room. Fortunately, no one was back there taking a break.

Just what caused the crash is still a mystery.

"We don’t know why the driver lost control," said Mosca.

The crash forced the restaurant to close. Manager Khaled Zayed said he’s not sure when he’ll be able to reopen.
