A Great White Shark was caught swimming in waters off Marathon over the weekend.
Bryce Rohrer, the owner and operator of Keys Shark Diving says he usually sees Hammerheads, Tiger sharks or even Bull sharks, but not Great Whites.
The shark circled the charter boat for about an hour on Sunday afternoon. The boat was about 10 miles offshore in about 300 feet of water.
"We had baits in the water," Rohrer said. "We had tuna carcasses in the water."
Rohrer described the shark as a sub-adult, measuring 10 to 12 feet. He said it was calm, moved slowly and deliberately. It didn't show any aggression.
Meanwhile, a professional underwater wildlife photographer got in the water to photograph the shark.
"This guy is a very experienced shark diver," Rohrer said.
