A Hollywood woman is facing aggravated assault and DUI charges after authorities say she went to her ex-boyfriend's house, drove donuts in his front lawn and tried to hit him with her SUV before she crashed into a tree.
Veronica Sue Doctor, 45, was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday following the incident in Immokalee, according to a Collier County Sheriff's Office report.
She was being held without bond Thursday and it was unknown whether she has an attorney.
According to the report, Doctor and her friend had been drinking at the Seminole Casino but left and drove to Doctor's ex-boyfriend's house in the 1200 block of Friendship Drive.
The ex-boyfriend later told authorities he heard honking coming from outside and looked out and saw Doctor driving in circles in his front yard in her GMC SUV, the report said.
He went outside and the two began arguing, and when he tried to walk away, she started chasing him in the SUV, the report said. The ex was able to get out of the way, and Doctor ended up driving her SUV into a tree across the street, the report said.
A deputy was called to the scene and when he arrived, he spotted the SUV in the middle of the road with its reverse lights on.
The deputy spotted Doctor exit the driver's seat and walk away from the SUV. She had trouble maintaining her balance, her speech was slurred and her eyes were glassy and she smelled like alcohol, the report said.
After Doctor was taken to a hospital for evaluation, her blood alcohol level was found to be .259, the report said.
Doctor was charged with DUI, DUI damage to property, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and driving with a license suspended or revoked.
