Hundreds Line Up Early For Seminole Casino Job Fair

Coconut Creek casino looks to fill 800 positions

Hundreds of job seekers were hoping a new career was in the cards as they lined up bright and early outside the Seminole Casino in Coconut Creek early Wednesday morning for a job fair.

People began forming a line around 1:30 a.m. to be among the first to be considered for the 800 full-time positions the casino is looking to fill.

By around 8 a.m., some 500 people were in line for the fair, which began at 9 a.m.

"I'm glad to be here," said Charlee Martinez, who was in line when it was still dark outside. "At this time it's really hard to find a job...whatever they have, I want."

The positions are being created as the casino completes a $150 million expansion project, which is expected to be finished by January. It will include a 120,000 square-foot casino plus a brand new parking garage.

All of the jobs will be filled by just after the first of the year, and will include cooks, bartenders and servers as well as dealers, hosts, cashiers and other positions.
