Jungle Island Opening New Lion's Den

Miami attraction adding lion, tigers to exhibit

Who is the king at Jungle Island in Miami?

A white lion, two royal white tigers and two snow tigers are joining Jungle Island's family that also includes a liger and a set of orangutan twins.

The grand opening of the new exhibit called "Lion's Den" opens Thursday to the public. Visitors will be able to walk right up to the glass and get a close-up view of these one-of-a-kind animals. The park already has a similar exhibit that houses the liger.

A Jungle Island statement says a white lion is extremely rare. A genetic condition eliminates the orange color in their skin, which is seen in other tigers. Some white tigers also have very pale stripes, which are hardly visible, and are often called `snow white' tigers.
