Man Arrested in '06 Shooting of Man and Woman

Police say driver who helped in cold case shooting arrested

Over five-and-a-half years after a man and woman were gunned down outside an Opa-Locka supermarket, police say they've arrested a second man behind the shootings.

Dennis Walker, 27, was arrested Wednesday on charges of first degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder, according to a Miami-Dade Police arrest report.

The charges stem from the April 30, 2006 killings of 30-year-old Antawn Jones and 19-year-old Sharika Wilson, who were shot outside the Imperial Market at 2145 Lincoln Avenue.

According to the report, Walker and 32-year-old Cortez Straughter were driving around that day looking to shoot and kill an associate of Jones nicknamed "Poo."

When they couldn't find Poo, they decided to kill Jones, the report said. Police say a witness saw Walker driving a car near the market with Straughter in the back seat holding an AK-47.

The witness saw Straughter get out of the car and open fire on Jones, Wilson and a third man, the report said.

Jones and Wilson were killed at the scene. The third man wasn't hit by the gunfire.

During their investigation, detectives say another witness told them Straughter admitted that they were targeting Jones but said the shooting of Wilson wasn't intentional.

Walker was being held without bond Wednesday. It was unknown whether he has an attorney.
