Man Arrested in Deerfield Beach Golf Course Murder

Murder charge for suspect in Deerfield Country Club shooting

Nearly a year after a man was gunned down by robber on a Deerfield Beach golf course, authorities say they've arrested a man for his murder.

Lamont Mayweather, 25, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of murder while engaged in a felony, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

He was being held without bond, and it was unknown whether he has an attorney.

Mayweather is charged in the Jan. 13 death of 35-year-old Lataurus Randall, who was shot while playing a round of golf at Deerfield Country Club.

Police said Randall and a companion were on the 17th hole when they were ambushed by two armed men wearing ski masks. A struggle ensued and Randall was shot in the back. The other golfer was uninjured.

The two suspects fled the scene.

Randall was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
