Man Shot, Woman Pistol-Whipped at Miami Home: Police

Police investigating confrontation that left man in extremely critical condition

A man was shot and an elderly woman severely pistol-whipped during a confrontation in a Miami home Thursday in what police say is an apparent landlord-tenant dispute.

The incident began around 9 a.m. when an armed man and a woman showed up at a home in the 7700 block of Northwest 4th Avenue and confronted the residents, Miami Police said.

Police say the armed man shot the other man, who is in his 60s, and pistol-whipped the woman before fleeing the scene with the woman he arrived with.

Two children were in the the home at the time of the attack but neither was hurt.

Both victims were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where they were in extremely critical condition. Neither was identified.

"We're trying to get information as to where they fled to and what car they may be in," Miami Police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes said of the suspects.

Reyes said there was a woman who witnessed the attack and detectives are interviewing her to see what information she can provide.

Authorities are still investigating the shooting.
