A Tampa man was arrested for throwing his pet turtle and injuring its shell and leg, authorities said.
Clifford Daniels, 52, was charged with felony animal cruelty after two people saw him throw the turtle 100 feet onto the road outside his home, The Tampa Tribune reported.
The turtle, who was bleeding from its mouth and hind leg, was taken by animal control, the newspaper said.
Authorities said Daniels' girlfriend told them he threw the turtle after a fight. Meanwhile, he said he didn't want to hurt the turtle, he was angry, the arrest report said.

He bonded out of jail, but it wasn't immediately known if he had an attorney.
