Marshall Accused of Punching Woman at Club

Former Dolphins WR allegedly punched a woman in the face late Sunday in Manhattan

New York City police say a woman has accused NFL star receiver Brandon Marshall of punching her in the face at a nightclub.

The woman alleges the incident occurred at 3:50 a.m. Sunday outside Marquee in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood. Police are investigating a complaint she filed Monday evening. Marshall hasn't been charged.

Marshall was traded Tuesday from the Miami Dolphins to the Chicago Bears. Both teams said Wednesday they were aware of the alleged incident before the trade.

Marshall's attorney didn't immediately return a call for comment.

The incident sheds a little more light onto the reasons the Dolphins abruptly traded one of their most productive offensive players. Perhaps the team felt Marshall was not worth the headache. This is not his first go-around with controversy.

Last year, Marshall's wife was arrested after he was stabbed in the abdomen during a domestic dispute. Charges were later dropped, and the NFL did not discipline Marshall for the incident.

During the 2011 season, Marshall allegedly berated Dolphins CB Vontae Davis for showing up to practice with alcohol on his breath, at one point throwing a football at Davis' face.

Marshall was involved in a 2007 fight in Denver that led to the drive-by slaying of the Broncos' Darrent Williams.

Shortly before the 2011 season Marshall revealed that he suffers from borderline personality disorder, saying "The longer BPD goes untreated, the worse it gets, as you all have seen in my life publicly."
