Miami Man and Woman Forced 13-Year-Old Girl Into Prostitution: Police

Pair facing human trafficking charges in teen prostitution case: Cops

A Miami man and woman are facing a slew of charges after authorities say they forced a 13-year-old girl into prostitution.

Daron Eugene Sneed, 26, and Melquince T. Macklin, 20, were arrested Thursday on charges of human trafficking, forcing, compelling or coercing to become prostitute and other charges, jail records showed.

According to a Miami-Dade Schools Police arrest report, Sneed, nicknamed "Killer," approached the girl last year as she was waiting for her school bus. Over time, he developed a romantic relationship with the teen, communicating with her by cell phone and visiting her at her Miami Gardens elementary school, the report said.

After Sneed asked her to become his girlfriend, the girl ran away from home and began prostituting under the control and supervision of Sneed, the report said.

Authorities say the teenager was forced to have sex with as many as 30 men and she paid Sneed 50 percent of her prostitution earnings, the report said.

Macklin worked with Sneed to compel the girl into prosecution, prosecutors said.

"These two individuals coerced a child of 13 years of age who they met at a middle school and then put her on Biscayne Boulevard to prostitute herself to men," Assistant State Attorney Warren Eth said during a bond hearing Thursday.

In addition to the other charges, Sneed is charged with 10 counts of procuring a person under 18 for prostitution and 4 counts of lewd or lascivious battery on a child between 12-16 years old, jail records showed.

Sneed was being held without bond Friday while Macklin was being held on $2,023,500 bond. It was unknown whether either has an attorney.
