Miami commissioners will be distributing 800 boxes of food to seniors in need.

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Bruno A. Barreiro and Miami Commissioner Frank Carollo will join Feeding South Florida and the Miami Marlins on Monday to hand out food to those in need.

A statement from the county says each box weighs 15 pounds and contains 21 items of canned meats, vegetables, fruits and other health items to supplement seniors' diets.

Commissioner Barreiro will spend the day hand delivering non-perishable food items to residents of Robert King High. The group will continue the food distribution to Martin Fine Villas and end the day at Haley Sofge Towers.
