Mother Pleads for Justice in Son's Dania Beach Shooting

Dijon Brown was fatally shot over the weekend

Terrell Brown is still coming to grips with the fact that her son is no longer around to call her name anymore.

"I'm used to him calling me, 'Ma, let me borrow your car. Ma, I want to get something to eat.' I'm not going to get that no more," said Brown.

She last saw her 20-year-old son on Friday night. Dijon, or "Mustard," as she tenderly called him, was standing by a fence on SW 7th Avenue and Phippen Road. She was driving home from work.

"I blew the horn and went home," Brown tells NBC Miami.

She didn't know that would be the last time she'd see her oldest son alive. Teddy bears now hang on that fence, marking the spot where Brown was shot and killed. Police say Brown knew his shooter,18-year-old Eric Hunter. Brown says they were friends.

"He spent the night at my house played with the children. They played football together. he seemed to be OK," she added.

Authorities said Hunter and Brown saw each other at the crowded street party, near Wards Lounge. The two allegedly had bad blood between them. Tempers flared and Hunter shot Brown, authorities said.

Brown says she does not know what the argument was over but whatever it was, her son did not deserve to die.

"I was shocked because this young man has been in my house. I don't understand why he did it," she said.

Authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Hunter. He's being charged with first-degree murder. Hunter has a tattoo of a dollar sign under his right eye.

The suspect was last seen driving a Blue 2010 Nissan Altima with Florida tag number 656 YGW. He also has a history of drug-related arrests. Police are also looking for Christopher Jordan. He's wanted for questioning.

Brown admits her son had gotten into trouble in the past. He had been arrested for drug possession before, but she had high hopes for him.

"I wanted him to finish school and play sports, not the street life," she said.

She is now begging anyone with information to come forward, saying her son deserves justice.

If you have any information on Hunter's whereabouts, police are urging you to call Broward Crimestoppers at (954)-493-TIPS.
