Three killed, several injured in violent night of shootings in Miami-Dade

Police are investigating a series of shootings throughout Miami-Dade that killed three people and left at least four others injured.

The first shooting happened in the area of Northwest 9th Street and Northwest 3rd Avenue in Miami when three men in an SUV were shot sometime around 9 p.m., Miami Fire Rescue spokesman Ignatius Carroll said.

Two of the victims were taken to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition and one of them died at the hospital, Carroll said. The third victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

None of the men were identified. Police are still investigating and trying to determine whether it was a drive-by shooting.

The second shooting happened in the 6300 Northwest Miami Place in Little Haiti. Police say one man was killed and another hospitalized in critical condition.

Police haven't released details of the shooting and said there is no known motive. Neither victim was identified.

Body of Soldier Killed in Afghanistan Returns to Florida

Miami-Dade Police said they're investigating yet another shooting that happened around 12:30 a.m. at a home in the 14700 block of Southwest 10th Court.

Police said the home's owner got into a dispute with an acquaintance which escalated and resulted in an exchange of gunfire.

Both men suffered gunshot wounds. The homeowner was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition while the other man ran from the scene and was found dead in the area of Northwest 148th Street and 10th Avenue.

Police haven't identified either man but said they are both 25 years old.

The incident is still being investigated.
