Opa-locka Elemntary School on Lockdown Due to Shooting in the Area: Officials

A nearby shooting left Dr. Robert B. Ingram School on lockdown Wednesday morning.

Dr. Robert B. Ingram School in Opa-locka was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after officials said there was a shooting in the area.

Classes at the school, located on the 6000 block of Ahmad Street, were not in session, but school officials said some children were there attending summer camp.

Police said they are searching for a suspect who may have been involved in a nearby robbery, shooting the robbery victim in the thigh. The victim was airlifted to a nearby hospital, but the identity and condition of the victim is unknown.

Authorities said the suspect may be on school grounds or in a school building.

Officials have not yet released further details of the investigation.
