Nearly 1,100 arrests were made in Broward County over the past three weeks during a statewide roundup to remove felons from Florida's streets, authorities said Friday.
A total of 1.093 arrests were made in the roundup, dubbed Operation Felon Sweep, as well as the seizure of 69 firearms, 213,575 grams of marijuana, 753 grams of cocaine, 9.475 grams of heroin, 1,576 prescription pills, 44 vehicles and $98,857, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
Felon Sweep focused on removing violent felons, felons with outstanding warrants and sexual offenders and predators off the streets, and resulted in more than 12,000 arrests statewide.

During the sweep, the BSO conducted multiple operations dealing with elderly exploitation, contractor fraud, domestic violence, sexual predators and robbery. The BSO worked with the Florida Sheriffs Task Force in the operation.
“The Broward Sheriff’s Office is proud to do its part to take felons off the streets,” Sheriff Al Lamberti said in a statement. “When law enforcement works together, criminals don’t stand a chance.”
