Police Identify Victims in Hialeah Car Burning

Police identified the victims as Megan Roccelle McNulty, 22, and Georbel Gonzalez Rodriguez, 25.

Police have identified the victims whose bodies were found last week in a burning car in Hialeah.

They identified Megan Roccelle McNulty, 22, and Georbel Gonzalez Rodriguez, 25, as the two victims whose charred remains were found on Oct. 28. The car was found burned to almost nothing in a parking lot at 8091 West 21st Lane.

Meagan McNulty's family members made a public plea Thursday for anyone with information to come forward.

"Any information to help find the monsters that did this to these two pwople, it doesn't matter who or what," mother Phyllis McNulty said. "I just never thought in my life I 'd have to go through this."

A medical examiner's report said the victims were shot before their bodies were set on fire inside a dark blue 2008 Mercedes Benz, according to police. The car, which belonged to Gonzalez Rodriguez, was burned minutes after it arrived at the parking lot, police said.

Officials said the two had been romantically involved, as of recently. They were last seen together during the early in the morning on Oct. 26. in the area of Hallandale and Hollywood Beach.

Father James McNulty said he did not know Gonzalez Rodriguez well.

"The only thing I knew about him was that she had gone out with him a couple of times," he said.

Police said Gonzalez Rodriguez has possessed illegal narcotics in the past, but had no major narcotics arrests or convictions. Meagan McNulty had a minor criminal past, police said.

The family described Megan McNutly as a loving child who cared for people and wanted to be an ultrasound technician. She had just started a job as a waitress and was finishing school.

"She didn't deserve this," James McNulty said. "She was a wonderful girl. She lit up a room when she walked into it."

Her older sister Phyllis McNulty said Megan was a caring aunt to her children.

"She took care of them with my mother," she said. "I just miss her so much and she did not deserve what happened to her at all."

The victim's mother, also named Phyllis McNulty, said her daughter's death had left a hole in her chest.

"My heart is broken and my daughter is not here," the mother said. "I keep thinking she's going to come home."

Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the shooting or identified any suspects, but were examining surveillance video from nearby buildings in the industrial district as part of the investigation.

Police released this photo showing where the flaming car was found:

Anyone who may have seen them or has any information on the incident is urged to call Hialeah Police at 305-687-2525 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
