Pedestrian Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash in Fort Lauderdale: Police

Fort Lauderdale Police said they are looking for a driver responsible for critically injuring a pedestrian in a hit-and-run incident early Thursday.

The crash occurred on the 600 block of West Broward Boulevard at about 12:27 a.m. Investigators said Daniel Francis Driscoll, 53, (pictured right) was trying to cross the boulevard, but he was not in a crosswalk at the time, police said.

Driscoll was hit by the driver’s side view mirror and fell to the ground.

Police believe the driver left the scene driving westbound on West Broward Boulevard and was driving a 1996-2000 model four-door green Honda Civic.

Driscoll was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He is in critical condition, police said.

As police continue to investigate, they urge any witnesses or anyone who knows the identity of the driver to call traffic homicide investigator Cheri Creque at 954-828-5825.
