A woman has died after she was struck by a Tri Rail train in Hollywood Tuesday morning, officials said.

The woman was on the tracks about 50-100 feet from the station in the 3000 block of Hollywood Boulevard just west of I-95 when she was struck by the northbound train around 6:30 a.m., Hollywood Police spokesman Lt. Osvaldo Perez said.

She was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead, Perez said.

Perez said the incident is being considered as a possible suicide. Police were at the scene investigating the incident and it was unknown when the train would be in service again.

A Tri Rail spokeswoman recommended riders make alternate transportation plans Tuesday morning.
