A small plane was forced to land on a rural road near Tamiami Airport in southwest Miami-Dade Thursday morning after reporting an emergency, officials said.
A pilot instructor and her student were onboard the single-engine Cessna 152 when it declared an emergency and landed on Southwest 168th Street about eight miles southwest of the airport around 8:45 a.m., FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said.
Neither person onboard was injured, though footage from the scene showed the plane had veered off the road and into some trees and bushes.

The instructor, who identified herself only as Sarmile, said she decided to make an emergency landing after she felt roughness in the plane and saw the engine was failing.
She said she followed procedure and landed on the pavement but the plane swerved off the road.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and said the Cessna was mostly intact.
The instructor didn't say how badly the plane was damaged.

Richard Skipski was fishing in the area when he said he noticed a commotion.
"I come back and I see, you know, all the lights and I said 'what's going on' and they said 'a plane crashed,'" Skipski said. "Oh my God."
The incident comes just a day after two people were killed when a helicopter crashed into a parking lot shortly after taking off from the airport.
