Fort Lauderdale Officer Arrested on Drug Charges: Cops

Kevin Gerard Pisano of the Fort Lauderdale police department was arrested for 3 drug charges.

A Fort Lauderdale police officer was arrested in an undercover operation by his own agency when he delivered drugs to a confidential informant, according to a complaint affidavit.

The Special Investigation Unit arrested Kevin Gerard Pisano, 50, on Friday, and he faces charges including armed delivery of oxycodone and hydrocodone and possession of hydrocodone.

Fort Lauderdale Police said the unit started to monitor Pisano on Nov. 30 after the confidential informant revealed the officer wanted to give him pain pills. 

Police said Pisano delivered approximately 2.10 grams of Percocet and 0.63 grams of Vicodin to a confidential informant of the police department. He was dressed in full police uniform with a loaded gun and was inside his marked police vehicle., according to authorities. No money was exchanged and detectives are still investigating why he gave the pills to the informant, police said.

A search warrant for his vehicle revealed less than one gram of Vicodin in his car, according to the affidavit.

Pisano is currently being held without bond at the Broward Sheriff's Office, according to a jail official. It wasn't immediately known if he had an attorney.

Pisano was hired by the City of Fort Lauderdale in 2009 and was previously employed as a law enforcement officer in New Jersey.
