Police canvassed a Miami neighborhood Wednesday as they continue their search for a suspect who robbed and sexually assaulted a woman at gunpoint inside her car.
Detectives with the Special Victims Unit handed out flyers Wednesday with a sketch of the suspect wanted in the Dec. 30 attack.
"We're scared, we're very scared," resident Doris Perez said. "We're like in jail inside our own house."
Police said the armed suspect got into the woman's car in the area of Northeast 9th Avenue and 86th Street, forced her into the back seat and drove a short distance before he sexually assaulted her in the car.
He then stole several items from her before fleeing the scene in a late model dark blue Chevy Impala with dark tinted windows and chrome rims, police said.
"This man takes pleasure in someone else's fear, which is one of the most dangerous persons in society," Miami Police spokesman Rene Pimentel said.
The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s, clean shaven, brown eyes. He was wearing a gray hoodie with a teddy bear on the front.
Police warned it may not be the man's first offense - or his last.
"This is not something that you start your criminal career doing," Pimentel said.
