Port St. Lucie Murder Suspect's Body Found in Coral Springs

Police searching for man wanted in Port St. Lucie murder find his body

The body of a man wanted for shooting his former business partner in Port St. Lucie was found down the street from Coral Springs High School Monday morning, police said.

Police had been searching for 60-year-old Mikhail Sergatiouk, who was wanted for first-degree murder in the shooting of 43-year-old Aleksandr Gorbach Saturday in Port St. Lucie.

Sergatiouk's body was found around 8:30 a.m. across from the school at 7201 West Sample Road, Coral Springs Police Lt. Joe McHugh said.

It appeared Sergatiouk may have shot himself to death, police said.

According to McHugh, Coral Springs Police were notified by Port St. Lucie Police Sunday morning that Sergatiouk, who lives in Coral Springs, had murdered Gorbach.

A search warrant of Sergatiouk's home led to evidence that linked him to Gorbach's death, police said. The motive for the shooting is unknown.

Around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, one of Sergatiouk's relatives called 911 to report that he was at his home at the Cache homes in the 8700 Block of Forest Hills Boulevard and had run out the back door and fled on a bicycle, McHugh said.

Authorities quickly set up a perimeter in the area of Sample Road and University Drive as officers in the ground and air searched for Sergatiouk for several hours before the body was found.
