Possible Sinkhole Drives Families From Florida Duplex

Authorities respond to possible sinkhole in same town where man was swallowed by one

Another possible sinkhole has surfaced in the same Florida town where a man was swallowed by a sinkhole while sleeping in his home less than a month ago.

Two families who live in a duplex in the 5300 block of Peach Avenue in Seffner were forced from their homes after Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews responded Tuesday night.

No sinkhole was visible but the duplex had buckled floors and cracked walls, Fire Rescue spokesman Ronnie Rivera said. The soil was also soft around the home, officials said.

Officials will have to use ground penetrating radar to determine the nature and extent of the depression, according to WFLA.

The American Red Cross assisted the families in finding a place to stay.

The home is three miles from the spot where 37-year-old Jeffery Bush died after a sinkhole swallowed a portion of his home, killing him less than a month ago.

On Sunday, another sinkhole was reported in Seffner between two homes, forcing residents to evacuate as a precaution.
