President's Visit to Shut Down Streets and Affect Miami-Dade Transit

Here is a list of road closures and transit changes in light of the president's visit.

Here is a list of Miami-Dade Transit changes and road closures for President Obama's visit to the Miami-area on Thursday.

Obama's event will be at UM's BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, where doors open at 1 p.m. He'll follow the UM event with a stop at the JW Marriott Marquis in Miami for a fundraising event that will be emceed by actress Eva Longoria.

METRORAIL:
Metrorail will stop service for approximately 25 to 30 minutes between:
• 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
• 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
• 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

METROMOVER:
Metromover will stop service for approximately 25 to 30 minutes between:
• 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

METROBUS: Route 24: This route will be using the South Miami bridge as Brickell bridge will be closed. Route (Brickell) 95 Express: The afternoon runs will be detoured using the South Miami bridge. Route 56: This route will be temporarily delayed during closures in the Coral Gables area. All routes with service in the downtown Miami area have delays between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. becuase of road closures.

Road Closures: All streets south of SE 1st Street to the Miami River and from SE 2nd Avenue to Biscayne Blvd. will be completely shutdown from 4:30 p.m. to about 5:30 p.m., to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.  From 5:30 p.m. to about 6:40 p.m. there will be an opening where traffic will be allowed to go south on SE 2nd Avenue. At 6:45 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. traffic will shutdown to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic from the area south of SE 1st Street to the Miami River and from SE 2nd Avenue to Biscayne Blvd.

At 4 p.m. there will be a “hard closure” at SW 7 Street of all northbound traffic. Traffic will be diverted westbound on SW 7 Street. SW 5 Street is under construction and closed off at SW 1 Court. Traffic will be open after 7:30pm.
