Consumers are looking to get deep discounts, without the Black Friday mobs and the frenzy.

"Its a lot more quiet. As you can see there's not really much going on, it's not a big fiasco," said shopper Ira Owens.

Waking up early still paid off. Owens scored regular-priced, limited-edition Lebron Nikes.

This year, Super Saturday started early, and so did the savings. It normally falls on the last Saturday before Christmas. But this year that's Christmas Eve, when the gift giving begins. So retailers made the big push 8 days early.

There were no crowds to fight off and no merchandise to fight over at Dadeland Mall. For the most part, Super Saturday was a mellow experience.

"No stress, no worries, everybody seems to be happy," said shopper April McMillian.

Retailers hope strong sales will give them something to smile about.

The National Retail Federation says less than half of Americans are done with their shopping. Dadeland Mall will stay open until midnight in the weekdays leading up to Christmas.
