Suspect in Mother's Death In Court For Unrelated Case

Man held without bond on unrelated case

A man who police have named as a suspect in his mother’s death appeared in court Thursday in connection to an unrelated case, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

The judge ordered Jason Kertesz, 29, held without bond on an unrelated parole violation.

Court records said he moved away from a Pompano Beach court-mandated sobriety house and didn’t tell his probation officer, the newspaper reported.

Irene Kertesz, 62, was found dead inside her home in the 2400 block of Northwest 57th Way around 9 p.m. Saturday night, according to Hollywood Police.

He was in possession of his mother's ATM card and vehicle, according to police, who said they were able to track his activities all weekend.

Kertesz was apprehended in Aventura after a brief foot chase, and police said he has multiple arrests on his record.

Irene Kertesz was a mother of three. Her husband called 911 after finding her body Saturday night, but police will not disclose how she died.

It wasn't immediately known if Jason Kertesz had an attorney.
