Suspect in North Side Elementary School Laptop Burglary Arrested: Fort Lauderdale Police

The 16-year-old suspect was charged with burglary of a school and grand theft.

Police have identified and arrested a suspect that allegedly stole 16 laptops at North Side Elementary School in April.

The 16-year-old suspect was charged with one count of burlgary of a school and one count of grand theft over $5,000, according to Fort Lauderdale Police.

Authorities said the suspect broke into the school through a classroom window and then took a media cart with the computers to a nearby fence where the laptops were unloaded.

The Miami Heat donated 16 new laptops to the school following the burglary.

The stolen property has yet to be recovered, according to police.
