Suspect Who Impersonated Police Officer In Home Invasion Robbery Arrested: MDPD

Another suspect has been arrested in the June 13 home invasion robbery carried out by two individuals dressed as police officers in southwest Miami-Dade.

Joseph Quiroz, 18, was arrested on charges of armed robbery, armed burglary and falsely impersonating a police officer, according to the Miami Herald. His arrest follows the arrest of Usmael Carvajal, who was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on June 28.

Both men are accused of breaking into a home in the 9800 block of Southwest 159th Street wearing bulletproof vests and holding badges. The pair allegedly handcuffed the husband and wife who lived inside the home before stealing money from a safe.

Carvajal, 29, was arrested in late June after the Pinellas Park Police Department received information that a fugitive from Dade County was possibly in the area. The search for Carvajal in Pinellas Park led to a SWAT standoff that caused people in surrounding apartments to be evacuated. Carvajal was found in hiding in an attic crawl space and was taken into custody.

According to the Herald, Quiroz was found in Newnan, Georgia where he was living at a hotel. He was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Friday, the newspaper said.
