Swimming Advisory Issued for Three Miami-Dade Beaches

Beach water samples didn't meet criteria for bacteria and by state regulations

A swimming advisory was issued on Wednesday for Crandon Park South, Sunny Isles Park and North Shore Park.

Beach water samples didn't meet criteria for bacteria and by state regulations, the Florida Department of Health has to issue an advisory.

Officials have collected additional samples from the beaches and will do more testing.

An advisory means swimming is not recommended as the results indicate there could be an increased risk of illness.

The Miami-Dade County Health Department is monitoring 15 beaches and samples are being analyzed for enteric bacteria, which is an indicator of fecal pollution.
