Tebow Wants to Return to Florida, But Dolphins Not Interested

Miami prefers a quarterback that can run a West Coast offense, will not pursue Tebow

The Peyton Manning signing has every NFL city outside of Denver asking, "Should our team try to trade with the Broncos for Tim Tebow?" (This is literally happening). Everyone has an opinion, even Tim Tebow himself.

A friend of Tebow said Tuesday the Broncos' suddenly backup quarterback has said "Hopefully I'll land somewhere in Florida."

Now that Peyton Manning is in Denver, Tebow has become expendable. His poor accuracy makes him an ill-fitting backup should Manning get injured, so Denver's money is better spent on a backup who is even an average passer. And with Tebow coming off a statistically lackluster but full of wins season, Denver might just be able to sell high on a lemon.

There is only one problem with a Florida retreat for Tebow: the Dolphins do not want him. He'll have to hope Jacksonville or Tampa Bay are willing to make a move.

Officially, the Dolphins are not saying anything about Tebow. "He is a player under contract to another team so I can't talk about him," general manager Jeff Ireland said to the Miami Herald Tuesday.

However, anonymous sources told the Herald the team will not attempt to acquire Tebow. The Dolphins will run a West Coast offense in 2012, and Tebow simply is not the right player for that system.

The Dolphins acquired former Jacksonville quarterback David Garrard on Monday. He will compete with returning backup Matt Moore for the starting job in 2012.

Not all is lost for Tebow. There are two other teams in Florida, plus the other 28 NFL clubs. One of them is bound to want him.
