Suspect Arrested in Man's Slaying in Hollywood

Man found dead at bloody apartment scene: Police

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in the killing of a man found dead inside a Hollywood apartment, police said Thursday.

Joseph Valcarcel was taken into custody Wednesday on a murder charge in the death of 57-year-old Robert Cahill, according to Hollywood police.

The discovery was made at an apartment complex in the 6100 block of Fillmore Street, after police received a call of a disturbance there about 8:15 p.m., Hollywood police spokesman Sgt. Pablo Vanegas said.

Officers found a lot of blood on the patio terrace, and when they checked out an apartment, they found the man’s body, Vanegas said.

Police said Cahill died of “severe trauma” but didn’t say how the man was killed.

Shortly after finding the body, police contacted and arrested Valcarcel, Vanegas said. The two did not know each other, Vanegas said.
