Teen Charged in ‘Project X' House Party Plot

Teen vandalized Miramar home, invited people to party inside: Police

A Miramar teen is facing burglary and criminal mischief charges after police say he vandalized an unoccupied home and planned on throwing a raucous party inspired by the new "Project X" movie inside.

Christopher Rashad Dade, 18, was arrested Monday after he trashed the home at 2136 Southwest 166th Avenue and "invited everybody and anybody to party at the vacant home" that night, according to a Miramar Police report.

According to the report, Dade spray painted the walls, glass, staircase, blinds and other areas of the house with graffiti, causing permanent damage.

Dade videotaped evidence of his crimes and posted the video on YouTube and Craigslist, saying "that there will be a party called 'Project X' taking place," the report said.

"Project X" is a comedy film released earlier this month about a group of friends who throw an out of control party at a parent's house.

Police said they were tipped off by neighbors who saw someone breaking into the house.

According to the report, Dade's party was expected to last from 8 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday. Police said about 85 cars with some 2,000 partiers showed up at the house and were turned away.

Dade voluntarily responded to the Miramar Police department where he gave a full confession admitting to the charges, the report said. He was later released, police said.

The home is owned by Trans Global Realty and Management, which said around $20,000 worth of damage was done to the house. Trans Global said they're trying to clean the house up and have it on the market in about two weeks.

Miramar Police said they're still investigating the incident and believe more people may be involved.
