Three People Plead Guilty in Toilet Paper and Septic Tank Scam

Employees would allegedly say the company was working with federal agencies like the EPA

Three people have pleaded guilty in a scam where more than a dozen elderly people across America spent a total of $1 million purchasing large amounts of toilet paper and septic tank-related items, The Miami Herald reported.

Christopher Lincoln, Mary Moore and Joseph Nouerand agreed to help prosecutors and pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit wire fraud, the newspaper reported. Three other people will go on trial.

The Herald reported that employees of the West Palm Beach-based FBK Products would say  that the people had to buy the company’s detergent, soap, and bathroom tissue so that their septic tanks could pass federal checks.

Company employees would allegedly claim that it was working with federal agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency, but prosecutors said the EPA doesn’t inspect septic tanks.

Lincoln, Moore and Nouerand agreed to cooperate with authorities and are to be sentenced in February, the newspaper reported.

The names of their attorneys weren't immediately known.
