Two Hospitalized, One in Custody After Shooting Outside Hialeah Nightclub

Police forced to fire on one person following shooting at club

One man was in custody and two men were hospitalized after a gunfight broke out outside a Hialeah nightclub early Wednesday morning.

The shooting happened just before 5 a.m. outside the Spotlight Cabaret on East 25th Street near 8th Avenue.

Hialeah Police officials said that when officers arrived at the scene, they were force to fire at one man. They didn't say whether that man was hit by the gunfire.

"We know that when he came on to the scene there was a confrontation between the subject and the officer, where the officer felt he was in fear for his safety and was forced to fire in his defense," Hialeah Police spokesman Eddie Rodriguez said.

One person involved in the shooting was in a wheelchair, police said.

The two injured people were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where they are in stable condition, police said.

Police haven't identified the victims or suspect and haven't said what led to the shooting.

"There were people inside that saw how it all began. There were people outside that saw how it all ended, so right now our main purpose is to finish interviewing everyone that was on scene," Rodriguez said.
