Two Killed in Murder-Suicide in Hallandale Beach

Man who shot woman found dead after SWAT standoff: Police

A man shot and killed a woman before he was found dead during a SWAT standoff at a Hallandale Beach apartment building that ended early Tuesday morning, police said.

The incident began late Monday night at the Park Layne Towers at 400 Golden Isles Drive when officers responded to a domestic violence call from the woman, Hallandale Beach Police officials said.

"She informed police at the time that she had been shot by her boyfriend who was still at this location," Hallandale Beach Police Chief Dwayne Flournoy said.

When officers arrived, they found the woman with a gunshot wound to her shoulder. She was taken to Hollywood Memorial Regional Hospital where she later died, police said.

The man barricaded himself inside an apartment as SWAT officers arrived. Police tried to negotiate with the suspected shooter but got no response, so they shot tear gas into the unit, police said.
