Two People Shot in South Beach During Robbery: Cops

Three people were apprehended after a chase with authorities

Three people were apprehended for shooting two people during a robbery in a busy area of South Beach early Saturday, Miami Beach Police said.

The two shooting victims were taken to Ryder Trauma Center, where one person was in surgery and the other in stable condition.

The robbery occurred on southwest corner of 13th Street and Collins Ave. around 4 a.m., and police actually heard the gunshots and called the incident into dispatch. Authorities chased the suspects from State Road 836 onto Interstate-95 North.

The suspects got off at the 79th Street exit and abandoned the car at 29th Ave. and 8th Street, where they were caught, police said.

An officer injured his arm in the pursuit and was taken to Mercy Hospital.

No other information was immediately available.
