Two Stabbed on Miami-Dade County Bus

Two hospitalized, one in custody after stabbing on county bus

Two men are recovering in the hospital Monday after they were stabbed while riding on a Miami-Dade County bus Sunday night.

The incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. as the bus was heading from Miami Beach toward downtown Miami on the MacArthur Causeway.

The suspect stabbed two people, then tried to leave on foot when the bus pulled over, Miami Beach Police spokeswoman Det. Vivian Hernandez said. The suspect was taken into custody a short time later.

"That's a good thing because that means that we don't have any other subjects at large," Hernandez said. "One person's responsible and one person is in custody."

The victims were rushed to Jackson memorial Hospital, where they're expected to survive. Neither the victims or the suspect have been identified.

Police are still investigating to determine what prompted the violence.

"It appears at this point there were some passengers, I don't think the bus was completely full, but some of those passengers are cooperating with Miami Police detectives," Hernandez said.

The incident tied up traffic for two hours as police investigated at the scene.
