UF Students Plan Special 9/11 Tribute

Some UF students will read stories about 9/11 attacks for 60 hours

A group of University of Florida students plan to honor the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist
attacks by reading stories about them over a 60-hour period.

Tim Altmeyer, an assistant professor of theater at the university, is spearheading the event during the 10th anniversary of the attacks.

The Gainesville Sun reports the students and other volunteers will read from "Portraits of Grief," a collection of New York Times obituaries about the 9/11 victims.

The event will take place at the Reitz Union amphitheater beginning Friday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It will continue next week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Altmeyer says he

still needs volunteers to help with the readings next week.
