Woman Shot Inside Hollywood Home by Stranger

Gunman bursts into home and opens fire, neighbor hit by stray bullet

A mother of two was rushed to Memorial Regional Medical Center in Hollywood Thursday morning, after being shot inside her one bedroom apartment by a stranger.

The woman's husband, Johann Lee, told NBC 6 a strange man broke into their apartment in the 2700 block of Lincoln Street just before 6 a.m. Thursday and opened fire, hitting his wife, Julia.

Johann Lee said his wife had been sleeping next to her two toddlers when the man broke in. He said he told the man he had the wrong apartment just before he started shooting.

Lee said the shooter quickly fled the scene. He said his wife was shot in the hip area and was expected to be okay.

Two doors down from the Lees, neighbor Joshua Brooks said a stray bullet struck him in the upper arm as he slept.

Neighbors told NBC 6 Hollywood police had recently raided a unit next door to the Lees, and wondered if the Thursday morning attack was related.

Hollywood Police said the gunman may have entered the home through a window and that they're investigating the shooting.
