Birthday Girl Sasha Obama Celebrates in London

First daughter turns 8, takes in Lion King

It was a royal birthday fit for a first daughter.

Michelle Obama took her two young daughters to see the Lion King at the Lyceum Theater in London's West End as part of Sasha's eighth birthday celebration.

Sasha spent her birthday eve with big sis Malia, 10, and mom in a private box watching the Disney musical with about 2,000 other theatergoers.

"The children were clearly having a good time," an audience member told People. "There was quite a buzz in the theater once people spotted them during the first part."

"I saw the girls skipping back into their box from their private room," the person said.

The show came as the Obamas wrapped up their second day of a surprise tour of London -- an extension of their family vacation without the president, who flew back to Washington, D.C., on Sunday.

The family visited Westminster Abbey and paid a visit to a statue of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior, the Coronation Chair and the Lady Chapel of Henry VII during the day yesterday.

The Obamas also toured London's House of Parliament, Big Ben and the "Harry Potter" film set.

On Monday night, Michelle took the girls to a traditional English pub on Monday night where they dined on fish and chips and she chowed down on a sirloin.

"The girls were so sweet and polite," a waitress at The Audley pub told the Daily Mail. "They thanked us every time we brought them something. It was a real honor."
