Rapper's Shooting Linked to Strip Club Brawl: Report

Dolla, suspect in gang brawl at Georgia jiggle joint days earlier

The shooting of rapper Dolla may be linked to a spat he had with a promoter in an Atlanta strip club.

L.A. Police believe Dolla, whose real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, and Aubrey Louis Berry, 23, who was arrested shortly after Monday's shooting outside the Beverly Center, fought at the club last week, the Los Angeles Times reported. Berry fled the shooting scene in a silver Mercedes Benz SUV, but was arrested a short time later at Los Angeles International Airport.

The fight occurred at Platinum 21 Adult Entertainment in Atlanta , the Times said. Employees interviewed by the paper said they remembered Dolla getting into a fight May 13 with a man known only as "A.B." During the brawl, which spilled outside the club, the combatants threatened each other and shouted gang slogans, workers said.

Burton, 21, worked on the soundtrack for the 2006 dance film "Step Up" and recently released two singles with Akon: "Like This" and "She So Fine." His MySpace page, which put his age at 20, said he once modeled for Diddy's Sean John clothing line and was signed to Jive and Elektra record labels.

Burton was working on his second album, "A Dolla and a Dream," which was due to be released on Akon's Konvict Muzik label. A song with T-Pain was titled "Who in the (Expletive) Is That?"

Berry was charged Wednesdy with one count of murder and two counts each of assault with a firearm. He is being held on $1.1 million bail and faces life in jail if convicted.
