Amos Brown Jr.'s dad spent hundreds of hours tracking down the nearly 30 teenagers and helped him of murder charges.

The father of a murder suspect in Norwalk never gave up on his son and is being credited with keeping him from going to prison on murder charges.

In January 2008, Amos "AJ" Brown Jr., 17, was charged in the fatal stabbing of Tykwan Hunt, 17, of Norwalk, during a fight involving dozens of teens.

    Brown claimed it was self-defense.

His father, Amos Brown Sr. who had initially turned his son in to police, was able to win his son's freedom.

He spent hundreds of hours tracking down the nearly 30 teenagers who were at a party when the fight broke out, a prosecutor and public defender assigned to Brown's case said.

Amos Brown Sr. spoke with witnesses who were reluctant to testify and eventually convinced them to come to his son's aide. Some testified that Hunt stabbed someone and pointed a gun at Brown before he was stabbed.

On Friday, a Stamford Superior Court jury acquitted the 17-year-old of all charges.
