Justice Department to Monitor Polls in Miami-Dade on Election Day

The U.S. Justice Department's Civil Rights Division will monitoring polls in South Florida on Election Day to protect voters' rights.

The Justice Department will have workers at polls in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach, along with three other counties in Florida. Nationwide, more than 500 staffers will be in 67 jurisdictions in 28 states on Tuesday.

"The bedrock of our democracy is the right to vote, and the Department of Justice works tirelessly to uphold that right not only on Election Day, but every day,” Attorney General Loretta Lynch said in a statement.
