Ronnie Brown Arrested for DUI in Atlanta

Brown was in Georgia for an offseason visit to his hometown.

We're beginning to think it's contagious. First Will Allen, then Dorrell Wright, and now -- who would have thought? -- Ronnie Brown has been arrested and jailed for DUI.

The Dolphins running back was arrested Friday night outside of Atlanta, two sources told the Miami Herald, after initially being pulled over for changing lanes without using a blinker. Brown "did not perform well" on an ensuing field sobriety test, leading the arresting officer to take him into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The sources say Brown was released Saturday morning, "distraught" over the arrest, and has already retained a lawyer.

There is some reason to believe the charges may soon be reduced to a traffic violation, but exact details of the arrest have not yet been made available.

For Brown, such an incident is highly uncharacteristic. The 28-year-old has never had any legal trouble and has long enjoyed favor with the Dolphins' front offices where off-field behavior is concerned. As such, it is  highly unlikely the arrest will have any bearing on his standing with the team.

Brown has been rehabbing a foot fracture for which he underwent surgery in November, and is expected to join the Dolphins Monday for the team's first day of voluntary offseason workouts despite his weekend misadventure.
