Broward Mom Arrested After Toddler Falls From Moving Car

A woman was arrested Tuesday after her 16-month-old child fell from a moving car in Pembroke Pines.

Police said Tina Johnson, 22, was driving along Southwest 2nd Street and 178th Avenue around 8:30 a.m. when she turned right and the left rear passenger door of her 2015 Nissan Altima opened.

Johnson's 16-month-old, who was unrestrained in the back seat, fell out of the moving car, police said.

A witness told officers the mother stopped, loaded the injured toddler into the car and drove off.

Detectives said Johnson then drove to a nearby CVS store to seek treatment. That's when officers responded and the child was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital. The toddler had non-life threatening injuries.

Johnson was eventually arrested and charged with child neglect.
