1 Suspect Arrested, Another Still At Large in Miami Armed Carjacking

Miami Police arrested one male in connection to an armed carjacking that led to a three-car crash on Interstate 95 Wednesday night.

An active police search was still underway for a second suspect in the area of Northwest 72nd Street and 7th Avenue, near I-95. Officers were going door to door searching for the carjacking suspects.

According to police, the carjacking happened hours earlier on Northwest 28th Street and 11th Avenue in Allapattah. The stolen car is described as a black Nissan Murano. When officers later spotted the car and tried to stop it the suspects fled on I-95, police said.

The suspects lost control and caused a three-car accident on the northbound express lanes on I-95 near Northwest 62nd Street, sparking heavy traffic delays. The suspects then bailed out and fled on foot. The stolen car was smoking on the highway. Officials were working on towing it away.

There were two victims in the armed carjacking. Police said the culprits used a gun to steal the car. Neither of the victims was hurt.

The victims of the car crashes suffered minor injuries.
