3 Teens Arrested in Deerfield Beach Shooting Death

Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Deerfield Beach man outside his home.

A series of electronic clues, including Facebook messages, led authorities to 19-year-old Alexander Glover of Hollywood in connection with the shooting death of 21-year-old Joseph Herrera. Glover has been charged with second degree murder.

Investigators have also connected a 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old male, both of Hollywood, to the crime.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, Herrera was shot outside his home off of Northeast 44th Court and Northeast 3rd Avenue around 10:15 p.m. on Sept. 9.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, Glover drove the teens to Deerfield Beach that evening in order to buy drugs from Herrera based on a deal made on Facebook. According to officials, the three planned to buy several hundred dollars worth of marijuana from Herrera.

Herrera entered the back seat of Glover's vehicle and gave them the marijuana.

At some point, Herrera and the male teen got into a physical struggle, and the teen shot Herrera, according to BSO.

The bullet also wounded Glover. Herrera took off running from the car after being shot.

Deputies said Glover and the teens drove back to Hollywood and divided the stolen drugs among themselves. Glover sought medical treatment at Memorial Hospital West, where deputies said they filed false police reports with both Hollywood and Pembroke Pines police claiming Glover had shot himself after having smoked marijuana.

Detectives were able to connect Glover and the teens to the crime based on Facebook messages from one of the teen's cell phones to Herrera's Facebook account.

It is not known if Glover or the teens have hired an attorney.
