1 Hurt as Jet Ski Collides with Boat Near Miami

A woman is being treated for injuries after the jet ski she and a child were riding on collided with a boat Sunday near Monument Island off Miami Beach.

Officials said a good Samaritan nearby assisted by pulling the two victims, a 30-year-old woman and an 8-year-old child, into his boat.

"After they were thrown off the jet skis, a good Samaritan came and picked them up and put them on his boat while they awaited assistance from 911," said Michelle Fayed of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The woman suffered a broken leg. The boy, suffered cuts and bruises.

She was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. The child was treated at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The boat remained at the crash site late Sunday.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating who is at fault. They are talking to witnesses to figure out who violated the right of way.

Officials said everyone involved is cooperating and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Charges are pending the result of the investigation.
