1 Killed, 1 Critical After Shooting in Opa-locka: Miami-Dade Police

One man was killed and another critically injured in a shooting in Opa-locka Tuesday.

The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Lincoln Avenue, Miami-Dade Police said.

Family members said 29-year-old Tavaris Fullington was standing outside a convenience store when a car pulled up and someone shot him and another man.

"They said he was begging for his life, and they just shot him," a family member said.

Fullington, a father of a 3-year-old girl, was killed at the scene. Police said the second victim was taken to Ryder Trauma Center where he was in critical condition after undergoing surgery.

"I just lost my oldest brother on Thanksgiving Day and for us to be out here right now is really hurting us," said Janet Fullington, victim's aunt.

Police didn't have a description of the suspects. No other information was immediately known.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
